Revolutionary iTAG technology for the rapid, safe and direct determination of protein
Very easy to use with no hazardous chemicals
Ideal for protein analysis in food
Accurate protein test that does not depend on measuring all of the nitrogen in a sample
Uses AOAC- and AACC-approved method
Bioscience meets food science with CEM’s new SPRINT™ Rapid Protein Analyzer for fast, accurate protein testing. This patent-pending system, which uses iTAG protein-tagging technology, identifies and measures only protein, not nitrogen, so you can be certain your results are not affected by fillers or contaminants.
SPRINT™ utilizes an automated protein-tagging technology that attaches to the
protein itself for an accurate, direct measurement. A known amount of iTAG is
added to the sample, the amount of iTAG that is bound to the sample is measured
and this result is converted into the protein concentration.
SPRINT’s iTAG technology only tags the amino groups found in proteins. Fillers and other sources of non protein nitrogen (NPN) are just ignored. Traditional protein measurement techniques like Kjeldahl and combustion (Dumas) cannot tell if the nitrogen present came from protein or other components.
Really easy to use
Fast analysis of all types of food
No hazardous chemicals
Safer than Kjeldahl with better results
Method approved by AOAC and AACC
No Method Development
SPRINT™ comes pre-programmed with a broad selection of methods ready for use in your laboratory. With its truly innovative software, loading a method and analyzing samples on your SPRINT™ is no more complicated than finding a friend’s number on your cell phone.
Protein analysis performed with IR, FTIR or NIR spectroscopy requires that you purchase methods before you can begin analysis. Also, those methods require frequent re-calibration.
Ideal Applications for SPRINT™
Dairy
Protein in Milk, Fluid Milk, Buttermilk, Half and Half, Chocolate Drink, Non-fat Dry Milk, Ice Cream
Grains
Cereal grains, oilseeds, legumes, forages, animal products, dairy products, and formulated feeds or foods
Meat
Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey, Hot Dog, Pepperoni, Hard Salami, Summer Sausage, Ham
SPRINT™ complies with these Official Methods; AOAC Method 967.12, AOAC Method 930.33, AOAC Method 930.29 and AACC Method 46-14B.
Clean Up is Easy
CCurrent protein analysis instrumentation requires frequent maintenance and cleaning. SPRINT™ uses disposable sample cups and filters, which contain the sample completely. At the end of a test, the non-toxic sample waste, the disposable filter and cup are discarded.
If you are currently performing Kjeldahl, Udy dye binding or Combustion (Dumas) analysis you will love how easy clean-up is with SPRINT™. There are no hazardous substances used at all.
When you have many of samples to analyze, all you have to do is add another SPRINT™. It takes about a minute to prepare each sample and about 2 minutes for SPRINT™ to complete an analysis. Set up a balance with two SPRINT™s and you have a high productivity system that can analyze more than 400 samples in an eight hour shift.
Kjeldahl versus SPRINT™ Cost per Test Comparison
The cost per test for the SPRINT™ is $3.30 and about 2-3 minutes per test.
If a laboratory performs one Kjeldahl test per day the cost is $8.34 and if 20 tests are made per day, the cost is lower, $5.39 at 100 per day the cost is down to $3.42.
